Help to streamline your business

for a better work life balance

Have you thought about getting coaching for your business?

Coaching can really help. It’s role is better understood for people trying to make changes in fitness (with personal trainers), sport (with team or skill coaches) or general life issues (life coaching), but it is equally a great tool for improving your business too. It can cost from £200 to £2,000 a month so it’s a significant investment. If you are small business owner is looking for answers on how to improve areas of your business, how can you decide if coaching is a wise investment?

Invest wisely to get a return from coaching

Coaching is like any other big business investment - like taking on employees, or signing a lease on new premises. You’ll get a better return if you’re clear about what you want it to do for you, you do your research for a solution that fits you, and you check that it delivers! Don’t leave it to chance - you are the expert in your business. If you’d like to hear what I think is important, I’ve listed my 3 top tips below.

Is coaching right for your business?

Have you started to think you might like to look at coaching to help you tackle road blocks in your business? If you’d like some prompts to help think it through I’ve done a worksheet which takes you through a few more detailed questions. It aims to help you see if coaching might be a good fit for what you’re looking to do with your business. Find it here.

3 top tips when considering coaching

  1. Before approaching coaches, define your problem in your terms. What would success look like for you? What has got in your way so far? Brainstorm some theories (3 - 10). You probably have a good insight into what you are struggling with if you spend some time to try and tease it out.

  2. Research! Interview 3 to 5 (or more!) coaches. Look for someone who lights you up …. you’re looking for a magic combination: a connection with a coach which will get you moving and help you create exciting, new results in your business.

  3. Start small. The work to get results will mostly stay on your plate (sorry to break it to you!). Your coach is a catalyst that get’s you mobilised… not a magic fairy who removes your issues with a flick of her wand. Build good foundations for your coaching relationship by starting with smaller problems and early successes. And then, once you have proof it works, you can scale it up!
